Digital Video Recorders
The latest advancements in computer technology have made digital video recording a reality. In just a few years we have seen hard drive capacity greatly increase, processor speed has more than doubled and new devices for recording video digitally have been introduced to the market. As you might know by now there are two important aspects that need to be considered when choosing a video recording device, recording frame rate and recording resolution.
These are also the reasons why choosing a digital video recorder (DVR) is quickly becoming the right choice for home security camera systems. In the security industry Digital video recorders are utilized for the same purpose as analog video recorders. However DVR’s boast a number of advantages over their older counterparts. Picture resolution for example can be obtained at a much higher rate using a DVR than using an analog recorder. This means that you will finally be able to reap all the benefits from your high resolution home security camera systems in crystal clear video format.
In the past choosing high resolution home security camera systems did not necessarily mean that you would be able to enjoy a similar high resolution picture playback. Home security camera systems with analog video recorders do not generally have a high resolution recording. Therefore your recorded video did not look as good as you might have preferred. However now DVR recording resolution can equal and at times surpass camera resolution which means better playback quality.
Another notable advantage of DVR recording over conventional home security camera systems is its high frame rate. Most recorders currently on the market have a frame rate of at least 60 frames per second which is more than double what analog recorders have to offer, not to mention that DVR with built in multi channel multiplexer can be found with recording frame rates of up to 480FPS. All this increase in frame rate archived by faster processors increases the fluidity of video avoiding the annoying time lapse recording so many older home security camera systems have.
And last but certainly not least a DVR recorded picture maintains its premium quality to its original form playback after playback. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for analog recoding quality which diminishes over time even by just being archived.
